Jenna Jameson; born Jennifer Marie Massoli; April 9, 1974, Las Vegas, Nevada) is an American pornographic actress, fashion model and entrepreneur, proclaimed as the most famous porn actress and winner of the unofficial title of “Queen of the Porn Industry”. Jenna has received over 20 awards for her adult film work, as well as special honorary memberships to two of the major pornographic organizations, X-Rated Critics Organization (XRCO) and Adult Video News (AVN).
Her father, Lawrence Massoli, of Italian-American descent, served as a police officer in Las Vegas and later as programme manager for station KSNV-DT. Her mother, Judith Brooke Hunt, danced at the Tropicana Resort & Casino Hotel in shows put on by Folies Bergère Art Hall. Her mother died of melanoma on 20 February 1976, two months before her daughter’s second birthday. After Judy’s death, relatives on her side stopped communicating with her widowed son-in-law, Lawrence himself was completely broke, as for many years gave his salary and received loans for medicines for his wife. After Jennifer’s mother died, all of Massoli’s property was confiscated and Lawrence and his two children (Jennifer and her older brother Tony) had to move to live in a trailer. For several years thereafter they moved from place to place with their grandmother, their father’s mother.
As a child, Jennifer often took part in Beauty Pageants (a show in which professional models or simply beautiful girls; the event ends with the selection of the best and the awarding of prizes) and took ballet lessons.
In her autobiography Jameson writes that in October 1990, when she was 16 she was stoned and raped by four boys. There she also claims to have been raped a second time at the same age by her boyfriend Jack’s biker uncle, Preacher. After the incident, Jenna chose not to say anything to her father and left his house, running off with her boyfriend Jack and thus starting her first serious relationship.
Jack was a tattoo artist and was the first to give Jenna her first series of tattoos, one of which later became her trademark – a double heart on her right buttock. Her brother Tony later added the inscription ‘Heart Breaker’ to the design.
Working in porn
While still in high school Massoli tried to follow the career of his mother and become a dancer, but many studios have turned her down for lack of the required data, such as the height (175 cm). She was employed in the Vegas World show but left the project after two months because, she claimed, the schedule was unbearable and the pay was too paltry.
Her boyfriend Jack persuaded her to take up the stripping profession despite her being underage. In 1991 she started dancing in strip clubs in Las Vegas using fake IDs. After being rejected from the Crazy Horse Too strip club due to having braces on her teeth, she had them removed with pliers and was hired by the club. Six months later Jenna was already earning $2000 a night while still in high school.
Her first stage name was “Jennasis” (Genesis – consonant with the title of the first biblical book about the creation of the world, Genesis). In the process of choosing a name “Jenna Jameson”, she kept Jenna as her first name, and in search of a last name she flipped through the entire phone book, but never finding anything suitable she settled on Jameson as the name of the whisky she drinks. It was the name she first used as a glamour model.
A little later in 1991 Jenna began posing nude for photographer Suze Rendell hoping to get into Penthouse. Jameson was paid $300 a day with no rights to the pictures. Her photos then ended up in various men’s publications under different names. After that, Jenna stopped working with Rendell, feeling she was only profiting from her.
While still in high school, Jenna began taking drugs – cocaine, LSD and methamphetamines – similar to her brother, who was addicted to heroin. She developed an aversion to food, stopped eating and quickly lost weight. She stopped being a model. In 1994, Jack left Jenna, who by then weighed less than 35 kg. Back in Redding, California with her father she was sure she had finished her career in erotica.
Jenna Jameson Pornographic career
Jameson recalled that she began acting in pornographic films in retaliation for her boyfriend Jack’s infidelity. She first appeared in an erotic film in 1993, in Andrew Blake’s unabashed softcore with girlfriend Nicki Tyler, with whom she posed together for Susie Rendell. Her first pornographic film was directed by Randy West (Up and Cummers 10 and Up and Cummers 11, 1994). Jenna quickly gained recognition and soon appeared in several other pornographic films. Early in her career, she made a promise to herself never to star in anal sex or double penetration scenes. She also never starred in interracial sex scenes with men. Instead, her trump card was the oral scenes where her penis was lubricated solely with saliva.
Jenna got her first breast implants on July 28, 1994. So, in the same year she had 2 sets of breast implants and one chin implant.
In 1994, after spending a few weeks in rehab with her father and grandmother, Jameson moved to Los Angeles to live with Nikki Tyler. She started modelling again and in 1995 received her father’s blessing to work in the porn industry. After this, her first film was Silk Stockings. The same year she signed a contract with Wicked Pictures. The contract brought Jameson $6000 for each of her eight films in her first year. Her first big-budget film was Blue Movie (1995), where she played a reporter who sneaks into the filming of a porn tape. The film won many AVN Awards. In 1996 she received awards from the three major porn academies: The XRCO Best New Starlet award, the AVN Best New Starlet Award and the Fans of X-Rated Entertainment (FOXE) as well as the Video Vixen award. She was the first to win all three awards.
By 2001, Jenna Jameson was making $60,000 a day. She was also dancing a couple of weeks a month, earning $8,000 a night.
Since November 2005, Jameson had her own show, Playboy TV’s Jenna’s American Sex Star, where girls competed with each other for the right to pass the competitive show and get the coveted contract to shoot a movie at ClubJenna.
In 2007, Jenna got her breast implants removed. This reduced her breasts from size four to three. She also announced that she was done with pornographic movies but would not leave her job at ClubJenna, which earned her $30,000,000 a year. In 2008 she announced she would no longer appear in porn in any form. Even after Jenna left porn, films and photos of her are still regularly released to this day.
Autobiography
Jenna Jameson’s autobiography Making Love Like a Porn Star was published on August 17, 2004. It was co-authored with journalist Neil Strauss, author of articles in The New York Times and Rolling Stone. The book became an absolute bestseller, lasting six weeks on The New York Times bestseller list. The autobiography also won the 2004 XRCO Award for Mainstream’s Adult Media Favorite.
The book covers the entire biography of the actress from the time her parents met to the wedding photos of her second marriage. It doesn’t omit the sordid details describing her two rapes, drug addiction, unhappy first marriage, as well as her numerous relationships with men and women. The first-person narrative is diluted with photographs from her personal archive, childhood diary entries, interviews with family members and comic strips.
Jenna Jameson Business
In 2000, Jameson and Grdina formed ClubJenna, a pornography production company. ClubJenna.com was one of the first pornographic websites to provide not just photos and videos but also candid diaries, relationship advice and even tips to paid members. The site proved profitable by the third week after its launch. Later it began coordinating the multimedia pornography scene, firstly by administering other porn star websites and secondly in 2001 it launched new pornographic movies.
Initially Club Jenna featured films in which Jenna’s appearance was limited to sex scenes with other women or with Grdina, who appeared on screen as Justin Sterling. The first ClubJenna film, Briana Loves Jenna (2001), co-produced with Vivid, cost $280,000 and grossed over $1 million within one year. The film won two AVN Awards nominations – Best Sales of the Year and Best Distribution of the Year. The film was advertised as “Jenna’s first heterosexual scene in 2 years”. Grdina claimed that sales of Jameson’s films averaged 100,000 copies, compared to mediocre pornographic films that sold 5,000 each. On the other hand, he also admitted that their films took up to twelve days to shoot, compared to one day for other pornographic films.
In a January 2009 interview with William Shatner, Jameson admitted that she was close to buying Penthouse magazine when publisher Bob Guccione announced a reorganisation of his business (which happened in August 2003), but that intention was thwarted when someone else unexpectedly bought up all the shares.
In 2004, Club Jenna expanded its production and began releasing films starring other actresses – Crystal Steele, Jessie Capelli, Mackenzie Lee, Ashton Moore and Sofia Rossi. In 2005 Jameson directed her first film, Provocateur, which was released as Jenna’s Provocateur in September 2006. Distribution and sales were handled by Vivid Entertainment, which Forbes magazine once called “the biggest adult film production company”.
Club Jenna was launched as a family business, with Grdina’s sister, Chris, as VP in charge of merchandising. In 2005, Club Jenna’s revenues were estimated at $30 million.
Jenna Jameson Personal life
Jenna is bisexual: According to her, she has slept with over 100 women and 30 men off screen. Among them were Marilyn Manson, Tommy Lee, Dave Navarro, she dated porn actress Nikki Tyler for a long time.
December 20, 1996 Jenna married porn actor and director Brad Armstrong (Rodney Hopkins), lived together for 10 weeks and separated in March 1997, but the divorce was not formalized until March 2001.
In the summer of 1998, Jenna met porn director Jay Grdina, who became her only on-screen male sex partner. They got engaged in December 2000, even though Jenna was still officially married to Brad Armstrong, and they married on June 22, 2003. The couple settled in Scottsdale, Arizona in a 620 sq ft mansion valued at $2 million.
In 2004, while pregnant, Jenna was diagnosed with skin cancer. Despite successful surgery, Jenna miscarried. Even in vitro fertilisation did not help her to get pregnant again. These and other problems eventually ruined her second marriage. On 12 December 2006, Jenna filed for divorce.
In 2006, Jenna began dating mixed style fighter and former UFC champion Tito Ortiz, whom she met on MySpace. On March 16, 2009, she gave birth to two boys named Jesse Jameson Ortiz and Journey Jette Ortiz.
On April 26, 2010 news agencies reported that Tito Ortiz had been arrested on suspicion of domestic violence and Jenna Jameson took the children and left. In the photos that circulated, her arm was bandaged. Ortiz was later released on $25,000 bail and claimed at a specially called conference that he found Jameson in possession of some kind of drug from the opiate group. Jameson later admitted that Ortiz had not beaten her and that she had injured her arm in the course of their argument.
It later turned out that the unknown drug was OxyContin, an opiate drug used for pain relief. A drug test showed no traces of the drug in Jameson’s blood. The pills Ortiz found were from a long time ago and had not been used. The couple announced that the incident was just a misunderstanding and that no charges would be filed against Ortiz. A week later, they started living together again.
