Tera Patrick, aka Linda Ann Hopkins, was born in Great Falls, Montana on July 25, 1976 to an English Jew and a Thai woman; her parents met in Vietnam during the war. When Tera was young, her mother moved back to Thailand and her father moved with her to San Francisco and raised her there himself.
Tera Patrick was spotted in San Francisco by one of Eileen Ford Modeling Agency’s agents and at the age of 13 she signed a contract to work as a model. She moved to New York after a short while and her modelling career on the catwalks and in catalogues began. At the age of 18 she left the world of modelling and enrolled at Boise State University where she earned an AAS in Medicine, and a BS in Microbiology. She transferred to the University of California, Santa Barbara where she pursued a modeling career due to financial issues.
In the late nineties, Tera Patrick began working nude and taking part in erotic shoots. In 2000 she starred in Andrew Blake’s porn film Aroused. This launched her career and soon she was one of the most famous and recognisable porn stars. She has appeared in the pages of Playboy and Penthouse, where she was voted Girl of the Month in February 2000 and later Girl of the Year. She has also worked for over 70 adult publications.
Teru Patrick is noted as a possessor of a passionate voice and a lover of experimentation in sex. This has made her the recipient of several awards from different porn organisations. Today she is the host of the renowned The Tera Patrick Show and an active member of the porn industry, raising funds for the Free Speech Coalition and A.I.M Healthcare.
In 2003, Patrick became editor-in-chief of Genesis magazine, a celebrity men’s publication which calls itself “The Home of Porn’s Hottest Stars”. Since signing with Genesis, Patrick has graced the cover of Genesis seven times.
On the 9th January 2004 Patrick married Evan Seinfeld in a modest wedding, after a three year relationship, in Las Vegas where they both attended the AVN Awards show. In November 2006 Patrick starred in a Vivid/Teravision film called “Tera Patrick’s Fashion Underground” where her co-stars were Jean Val Jean and Tommy Gunn. In the same film her husband, under the pseudonym Spyder Jonez, starred with Lanny Barby. It was the first time in three years that they broke their pact to be each other’s only partners on set. In an interview, Tera Patrick said that she was sympathetic to her spouse working with other girls. They have appeared together in five films for Vivid and ten films for Teravision (with Seinfeld appearing as “Spyder Jonez”; he also directed several films.
In 2005 Patrick and Evan opened an agency to recruit talented models and actors. According to a quote from Patrick’s website, her aim is “to help guys and girls know their rights, to be respected in the business, and to teach them to reach their potential”. She also owns the production company Teravision, which co-produced the first film, Desperate, starring Patrick and Evan, with Vivid Video. In April 2006 it was decided that she would host the Exxxotica Miami meeting.
Tera Patrick is a frequent and beloved guest of Howard Stern on his television and radio programmes. She appeared on the cover of FHM magazine in July 2006, speaking candidly about herself in an interview. Tera Patrick, voted one of FHM’s 100 Sexiest Women and the first porn star to appear on the cover of FHM. Tera also appeared in an episode of Aqua Teen Hunger Force, first aired in November 2006.
In an interview with Adult Film Database in February 2007, Tera Patrick said that she didn’t plan on doing more than two more years but that she would be releasing her films for another decade. In March 2007, it set the record for the fastest-selling Hustler Studios film featuring her, ‘inTERActive’.
From Tera Patrick’s appearance was created the computer character in the video game “Backyard Wrestling 2″.
Patrick also starred in the music video for the song “I Can’t Move” by American singer and rapper Everlast.
In September 2009 she split from her husband Evan Seinfeld.
In 2011 Complex magazine ranked her #2 on their list of the ’50 Hottest Asian Porn Stars of All Time’.
She began dating special effects specialist Tony Acosta and they had a daughter, Sofia Evelia Acosta, on 25 February 2012.
Lawsuits
In December 2002, she sued Digital Playground, accusing them of not paying her for her involvement in several Digital Playground projects. Digital Playground representatives claimed that they held all rights to the name “Tera Patrick,” and that she had signed a contract stating that she could only work for that company until January 2008. Despite an ongoing lawsuit with Digital Playground, Tera Patrick signed a two-year exclusive contract with Vivid Video in December 2003.
In April 2007, Tera Patrick and her production company Teravision sued Jenna Jameson and Playboy Enterprises (the new owners of Club Jenna) for plagiarism and attempting to make money from the brand name of Tera Patrick’s website clubtera.com.
